Big medical term, right!! For short the doctor called it c.diff.
Let's back track our story first!
Henry had a very loose stool full of blood this morning. I'd been on the fence all week about taking him back in for his cough...well that 100% led me to call.
We went after Iz was out of school, and after seeing the photo of his gross diaper, he told me about c.diff. What it comes down to is this (as taken from a website): the balance of bacteria in the intestines is altered, such as in antibiotic use, C. difficile infection may develop and lead to colitis (inflammation in the colon). The colitis is caused by the production of two toxins that can lead to irritation in the colon. C. difficile can spread from person to person or through contact with objects contaminated with feces (fecal-oral transmission).
Obviously in our case it's antibiotics!!!
Here's what I get to do! I was sent home with a plastic container to collect a sample for testing-only if he has another loose stool (ice cream consistency or looser), or with more blood. Then they send it off for testing. He's not saying this is 110% what he has, just ruling things out. Hopefully we can get a sample in just to be safe!
Henry is good orher wise. His lungs were clear, and I guess his right ear showed that it had an infection, but is resolving itself! His temp was elevated, but other wise we are ok!!
The only pic I got today was a nasty diaper so here is an oldie!
Until tomorrow!!
