Buzz kill

Oh lord. The day after trick-or-treating has turned into a major buzz kill. Because it was on a school night, bedtime was pushed back by over an hour. Our kiddos are in such a schedule that this morning was a nightmare.

The sugar highs are all gone and the begging for candy every ten minutes begins. The constant "no's" are said to no end. The hour of lost sleep leads to melt down after melt down. Fit after fit. Tears and more tears. I was ready to fall asleep again at 6:58 am and not get up until tomorrow. However, a good mommy does her mommy thing and trudges through.

I know I'm not the only mom who is enduring this today. We will unite and stand strong. We will eat all the candy we want after kids are asleep and toss out our wrapper evidence! Oh-and thus begins the "who shoved those wrappers there? phase too!

So here I am. A buzz kill. The girls are in bed already. Our lights are dark as the boys fall asleep. Cheers to us all as we eat guilt free tonight!
The pure exhaustion.

Halloween night 2

Ryan and I took the kids trick-or-treating in Indy tonight. They had fun and got a boat load of candy!

We were excited to see a motorcycle!

We always stop to see Papa Lewie and Grandma Joy. And Aunt Debbie got in on the fun too!

Love my little bee!

This pumpkin cracked me up! Pretty creative.

Hope everyone had a great Halloween season! Bring on the next two best holidays!!

Halloween day one

It's a festive weekend.
We had the annual trick-or-treat on the square in Indy this morning. Kids had a great time.
Henry didn't want to wear his fireman jacket.

Cutest bumble bee!

Iz hugged Elsa after this. It was pretty adorable.

Viola was so excited to see super girl!

Iz was at a birthday party all afternoon, so I played with the kiddos outside. Ryan moved garage stuff to the shed for the winter.
Tonight we got one pumpkin carved.

This carving business is 110% Ryan's job. I've never been skilled at it.

Nobody wanted to dig out the guts. That's the best part! Oh well. Ryan made each kid try. Clearly Henry didn't approve.

And our finished product.

Fire rescue

Henry went to the store like this with me this morning. He got lots of compliments.

Leave me alone

My sweet little Henry has reached a phase I seriously do not enjoy. While I love that he is so good and vocal with his words, it's hard to hear him say, "Leave me alone mommy"! He means it too. He will tell anyone to leave him alone if he's mad. On a few occasions he's said it when he's hurt and that's really hard. All you want to do is snuggle your hurt baby and can't.

I wanted to take his picture swinging and instead got him saying his famous phrase. Oh the honesty of a toddler!

A Serious (girly) question

Guys be warned-it's about bras and underwear!

Ok so I have a very serious question for all the ladies. I bought some new underwear today, and I feel guilty. I got to talking to the cashier about it and she agreed that she felt the same when she'd make purchases like that for new under garments. Why!? WHY do we have to feel guilty for spending money on ourselves? Especially for something like that?

All women wear these two items out until there are holes and wires poking your arm pits.

But sure enough, here I sit tonight loving the fact that I have new items but still feel bad. Is it because I always put my kids and hubby first? Probably? Is is foreign to me to do this? Yes, absolutely so. I feel like we need to take a stand and not make this a yearly purchase (because come on-it pretty much is), but it should be an every few months. It should be a, "hey babe go treat yourself" kind of experience every time. Whether you but at Victoria's Secret or Target-we all deserve good support and nice panties!

That's my two cents worth. I seriously want to know your input though. Am I and the cashier alone in feeling guilty?

Oh and today I took the three littles to the indoor play date. Adrian had a blast.

He loved this step two baby climber. I need one for Christmas.

Henry drive everything he could. Viola built castle after castle.

And Iz is just beautiful.

Wandering

I had a rough morning. Had a bad stomach ache so I've been kinda lazy. The kids were able to play outside-I didn't think it would happen. I thought it was going to rain. I'm kinda glad it held out. It gave Adrian lots of time to wander.

Crime scene

It was an insane afternoon. I can't say day, because that's not true.
Ayer getting Viola home from school is when the chaos started. I could hear Henry and Viola playing back in the bedroom. Not ever thinking anything bad was happening. Boy. Was. I. EVER wrong! Insert the crime scene.

Yes. Those are q-tips and tampons. An entire new box of never been opened tampons. I was so upset. I feel most women would know why too. Not really a cheap thing.

What on earth ever made this a fun activity, I'll never know.
In the middle of me cleaning and sorting this mess out, Henry came down the hall naked and asking for a bath. I then noticed he was covered in milk splatters.
Enter crime scene number two.

He dumped his milk and thought it was ok to slap it all around. I was nearly ready to cry at this point. I was totally outnumbered by my own kids today.
Kids can and will make any crime scene of their own.
Tonight our neighbor used her leaf blower and blew a huge jumping pile together for the kids. That was a huge hit and fun time!

Low key

We played at the farm this afternoon. It was a pretty chill day. Not a lot going on.

Henry read the paper with Ryan tonight. And Adrian toted around a turkey booty today!
Seriously. A low key day.

Henrys day

Henry had a much more exciting day than myself and the girls. Ryan took him with him, Papa Charlie and Papa Lewie to a farm in Ottumwa to play with tractors. This farm is owned by a guy who opens it up to the public. He lets them bring in their own combines or whatever they use to harvest and have at it in his fields! So neat!

Me-I spent my day doing loads of laundry. It was bedding day. Nothing better than clean sheets though!!

Leaves

I love living old childhood memories through the kids! Nothing is more fun. Tonight we raked leaves. We Jumped. We Tossed. Then we filled those big 'ol pumpkin leaf bags! Here are pictures of the fun!

I had no luck getting any of them to focus at all. They were so distracted and busy!

It never ends

We had yet another rough night with the boys last night. Both up coughing until nearly getting sick. I debated most of the morning if I should take them back in. I did. Adrian does have another ear infection. Henry has ears full of fluid and are red. The dr decided 2.5 weeks is long enough and decided to treat him too. I really hope this helps them.
Adrian wore his first pair of hard sole shoes. He did great!

After the day I had it was nice to have an evening with family. My sis-in-law had a fun birthday party tonight for herself and a friend. They had all sorts of fun dress up stuff to take silly pictures. Everyone got into it!

Here's to a better night!

Costume prep

I sometimes hate Halloween because it's so pricey. Now that we have four to buy for I had to get creative.
Adrian-he's a bee. We got a hand-me-down from his cousin. His was free. We can't beat that!
Henry-a fire fighter. He LOVES seeing the trucks anytime he can. I had put s shout out and didn't hear. I had been to three stores and finally decided, "why not check goodwill?" Jackpot! I got him the whole nine yards for $4.99. It's the Melissa and Doug dress up costume.

It's complete with three accessories. Fire extinguisher, mega phone and hat.

The coat is sweet.

We can personalize it!

Isabelle's I ended up getting at goodwill too. It's amazing how many costumes they have! She wanted to be Elaina of Avalor but all the stores didn't have her size. I did find a super cute pirate costume. Goodwill also sells brand new fairy wings. Insert pirate fairy! For $5.99!

Thank god she loved it. I was nervous she'd be really mad.

And Viola will be Supergirl. I got hers at Walgreens. It was on sale for $11.99 and I had three bucks in perk point making it a steal at $9! On a budget and I rocked it today!

And...everyone is happy!
