Bullies

I have zero pictures today. Instead I've had a lot on my mind about the whole news world and bullies.
It makes me so sad to hear of people taking their own lives because of bullying. As a parent, I cannot even begin to fathom what that feels like, nor do I ever want to.
From what I read in the news feeds and the comments people make about this issue has really stunned me. "Parents need to teach their kids to have thicker skin and know how to brush it off" is one that has really stood out to me. I get it-that comment yes makes sense-but REALLY is all I can think in my head. Even if you teach your child from day one to be unique, their own person, to not care about what others think-words and actions STILL hurt.
My sister has recently become extremely open (high five Jades) about her life and she is so happy now. Her road here-not so easy and not so happy. She was and still is a victim of bullying. She chose to be proactive and started a sort of support group for the LGBT community at her school (huge high five)! Taking action can work.
I have to question how well some of these plans are really working though within these schools. Why are kids still taking their own lives? I feel like teachers and support staff really need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Knowing that my kids will be there someday terrifies me.
I try as hard as I can on a daily basis to instill into my kids that we love and respect everyone-no matter what! I think for this "epidemic" to get under control parents all over need to instil the same values into their children, rather than shove them off with money or toys or electronics.  Maybe then there wouldn't so much hatred in our society.
I read an article a friend sent me the other day about Bruce Jenner. He was having a talk with Jesus. The article stated simply-would Jesus hate Bruce? It stuck with me as well. Why is it our place to judge? It's not. Simple answer. Whoever your higher power is-that's who will deal with you in the end of things.

As Ellen says everyday at the end of her shows- BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER! It's not hard, we all can achieve something like this.

Until tomorrow
