I never would have thought I'd wake up yesterday and end up going into the most intense labor I've ever experienced! Around 2 pm I was hit out of nowhere with contractions. They were very consistent at about five minutes apart and I swear once five pm hit they amped up to every two to three. Sure-I got the temporary pain relief but it only worked some what on the first round. After being checked over and over to see if I had progressed to move over to labor and delivery I finally had at 930 last night. After having a very rough time getting up into my new bed, the savior of my life walked in at 10 pm to give me the epidural. 8 hours of contractions that were that close and that painful was extremely trying. I rested and we waited. Around 4 am I felt pressure and contractions again so they moved Ryan and I over to the OR for delivery. Reason being the nicu triage room is right there.
Ryan got all suited up as did I.
We (and by that I mean the nurses and my doctor) waited forever for nicu to get there. I was told not to push-that's hard-until a nicu staff was ready.
Well in all 1 and a half pushes later he was here!!
He's perfect. None of us could believe that he was 5 pounds! He seriously doesn't look it! He's doing so well already!
He is on what's called ampotherm which is a humidified oxygen. He's been swaddled all afternoon and is breathing so much better that way. He'll be on it for a few more days(the ampotherm) and after he's off that and breathing well we will try to nurse. So for now it's back on the pump!
I got to really hold him this afternoon and he's just tiny. He's perfect, looks just like Henry and has Viola's lips.
This is our entire get up!
We have day one in the books. I get to go home Sunday! I'm very excited and can't wait to be in my element and rhythm again!!
Until tomorrow!!
